Our construction system is based on the use of unfired clay bricks, mixed with a minimum percentage of cement and pressed to ensure stability and durability. The masonry is 30 cm thick, and consists of a brick structure that rests on specific reinforced concrete foundations and is reinforced by iron ribs.

The thickness of the clay walls insulates the dwelling from the hot climate outside, reducing the need for air conditioning and its high costs. In addition, the electrical and water systems are designed not to waste energy or water.

Sustainable buildings

Sustainable constructions. In addition to bricks of our own invention, we use materials of natural origin, which have a lower environmental impact throughout their production and disposal chain.

Creating new opportunities with vocational training

Throughout the course of our projects, the work team has been enriched with new elements. Their experience has been combined with the training we provide, allowing them to acquire new skills and strengthen pre-existing ones. These then can be applied not only in the context of our projects, but also during work conducted independently. This provides the community with a return in terms of knowledge and experience. In addition, we have provided a platform to link craftsmen who previously operated separately, stimulating connections among professions within the community.

The idea of combining Sahel tradition with modern technology stemmed from Abou’s passion for ecology and bio-building, from his experience gained during many years of working in construction in Italy, and from being able to admire traditional clay constructions in Senegal and Mali Thus, he formed a team with the architect Andrea and the engineer Ettore, to bring this innovative project to life: building with clay bricks using modern techniques and achieving an elegant construction. Throughout his direct experience on the ground, buildin his house on the Petite Côte, he selected a working team and established optimal partnerships with local artisans and professionals.
